What's Your Leadership Style?

Leadership comes in many forms, each with it’s own strengths and characteristics. It takes a bit of all of them to be able to function as a strategic leadership team and thrive.

One of the ways in which to ensure your organisation has all of the skills and styles needed to succeed is to undertake a profiling of your management team. However, in advance of this and to start the thought process, reflect on the different leadership styles below and consider which one resonates with you as an individual and of your wider team members:

Visionary Leader: Do you inspire others with a clear vision of the future? Visionary leaders are forward-thinking, innovative, and adept at painting a compelling picture of what could be.

Servant Leader: Do you prioritise the needs of others above your own? Servant leaders lead by example, putting the well-being and growth of their team members first and empowering them to reach their full potential.

Democratic Leader: Do you value collaboration and inclusivity? Democratic leaders involve their team members in decision-making processes, seeking input and consensus to drive collective action.

Transformational Leader: Do you inspire change and drive growth? Transformational leaders are charismatic, motivational, and capable of rallying others around a shared vision to achieve extraordinary results.

Autocratic Leader: Do you prefer to take charge and make decisions independently? Autocratic leaders exercise strict control over their teams, making decisions with little to no input from others.

Laissez-Faire Leader: Do you believe in giving your team members autonomy and freedom? Laissez-faire leaders provide minimal guidance and supervision, allowing their team members to take ownership of their work and responsibilities.

Transactional Leader: Do you believe in a give-and-take approach to leadership? Transactional leaders reward good performance and discipline poor performance, using a system of incentives and consequences to drive results.

As you reflect on these different leadership styles, consider which one aligns most closely with your own approach to leadership. Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all model of leadership – what matters most is that you lead with authenticity, integrity, and a genuine desire to bring out the best in others.
